A group of over 100 motorized vehicles, including dirt bikes, scooters, and bicycles, caused significant disruption on Boston’s highways on Friday, August 15, 2025, leading to one arrest and ongoing concerns about public safety. The incident, which unfolded in the afternoon, has drawn attention from law enforcement and sparked debate about urban mobility in the city, as reported by the Massachusetts State Police.
According to authorities, the group entered the O’Neill Tunnel on Interstate 93 south via the Zakim Bridge around 2 p.m., weaving through traffic and creating hazardous conditions. After briefly exiting near Government Center at Exit 17, the group re-entered I-93, continuing their disruptive ride. The situation escalated near D Street and Summer Street when a dirt bike collided with a State Police cruiser. The operator fled on foot, leaving behind a bike later identified as stolen property.
State Police arrested Adam Harrison, a 22-year-old from Winthrop, at the scene. Harrison faces charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and is scheduled to appear in South Boston District Court on Monday, August 18, 2025. The Commonwealth’s Air Wing unit was deployed to monitor the group, which remains active around Boston, indicating potential for further incidents.
The State Police have urged the public to avoid engaging with the group on roadways and to report sightings to authorities. This event follows reports of similar disruptions in recent years, with social media posts on X describing the group as a “mob of 100 youths” causing delays in Boston’s tunnels, though these claims remain unverified and should be treated with caution.
This is a developing story, and further updates will be provided as new information emerges.
